Solid Enough?

Solid Enough?

Our scripture reading today is in Matthew’s Gospel, where Jesus first asks the disciples what others are saying about him. “Who do they say the Son of Man is?” Jesus then asks, “But who do you say that I am?” and Simon Peter, without hesitation, responds: “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus then gives him the name Peter, Greek for rock: “And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church.”

This is a beautiful passage of revelation, testimony, and the reciprocal nature of faith. Once Simon Peter identifies Jesus as the Messiah, Jesus identifies Peter as his rock, showing that faith isn’t just a one-way street. In your spiritual journey, have you sensed a “change of name” or a change of identify?

Join us as we reflect on the different ways God empowers us to offer a voice of testimony in our world.
