Neighborly

Neighborly

Neighbors…they can be a joy and/or a struggle!  This Sunday we are spending time with one of Jesus’ most well known parables, the parable of the Good Samaritan.  It’s in this text that a lawyer asks Jesus, “Who is my neighbor?”  In some ways our familiarity with this text is comforting.  Many of us learned this story as children and know it by heart.

But that familiarity can also be a detriment.  It can keep us from seeing and hearing this parable with fresh eyes and ears.  Is there anything new for us to learn from this beloved text?  How might it speak to us as Christians today?

Scripture passage:  Luke 10:25-37
