All month long we are focusing on the notion of rest. Remembering the Sabbath is included in the Ten Commandments. It’s right up there with not lying or stealing or killing. Is it really that important? To answer that question, all we need to do is look within and around us. What happens to us when we don’t honor the rhythms of life to which God calls us? What is the personal and communal fallout when we fail to rest? What does God want and intend for us? Today we explore these questions through the lens of the prophet Elijah and the much cherished psalm, Psalm 23.
Scripture: 1 Kings 19:1-9; Psalm 23
