PB UMC Supports Pride

PB UMC Supports Pride

This year, PB UMC will be participating in the San Diego Pride Parade on July 18. Our own Louis Perez will be coordinating the decorations for our float. As many of you know, in past years, we have had several floats in the parade and have actually won some awards! Our float designs are always interesting, informative, and a lot of fun! The parade begins at 11 am at the Hillcrest Pride Flag at University Ave & Normal St., proceeds west on University, then turns south on 6th Ave., turns left onto Balboa Dr., and ends at Laurel St.

As a first for PB UMC, we will also host a booth at the Pride Music Festival, which will run Saturday and Sunday, July 18 & 19, from 11am to 8pm at Marston Point in Balboa Park (6th Ave & Laurel St.). The Music Festival includes multiple stages of entertainment, more than 200 musicians, bands, comedians, and dancers, as well as marvelous shopping at dozens of vendor booths, an art exhibit, cultural presentations, and great food. It’s truly a weekend of full-scale family-friendly entertainment! Sidney Yin is coordinating our booth volunteers. We will be passing out free PB UMC logo pens, refrigerator magnets, sticky notes, PB UMC logo bottles, and so forth, as well as inviting members of the public to come worship with us.

As you can guess, we would LOVE for you to be involved! We need people to help decorate the float, be in the parade as float riders and accompanying walkers, and volunteers to welcome people at our booth. To volunteer, you may either sign up on the Volunteer Sign-Up Sheets in the entry area each Sunday, or you can go to our Ministry Sign-up page.
