Where There Is Doubt, Faith

Where There Is Doubt, Faith

We are so glad to welcome the Rev. Lesley Brogan to preach today.  She’ll guide us into thoughtful reflection regarding this passage that often focuses on “doubting Thomas,” reminding us of one of the “Where there” clauses in the Prayer of Saint Francis.

Les says, “Some of my most significant ‘faith moments’ have happened in the dark. This Sunday’s gospel lesson from John 20 tells us of one such moment. The disciples gathered at night in a  locked room. They gathered to share a meal together. They gathered because they were afraid and didn’t want to be alone. They gathered together because it’s what Jesus taught them to do when they were hungry and lonely and afraid. And, amid their gathering in the dark, Jesus appeared.”

Scripture passages: John 20:19-31
