Pastor Christopher joins PB UMC in an unusual capacity. While serving his full-time appointment as Assistant Professor of Theology at the University of San Diego, he chooses Pacific Beach UMC as his Charge Conference and offers regular leadership in worship, preaching, teaching, community engagement, pastoral care, and other ministry areas.
Pastor Christopher earned his Ph.D. from Claremont School of Theology in Religion, Ethics and Society; his M.A. from Claremont School of Theology in Religion; his M.Div. from Claremont School of Theology; and his B.A. from Cornerstone University in Business Administration. His teaching and research focuses on Christian social ethics, African American theological ethics, environmental ethics, and animals and religion. Pastor Christopher has served United Methodist congregations in Battle Creek Michigan, as well as in Torrance, and Compton, California.
Pastor Christopher has been married to Gabrielle since 2003 and when they are not busy working, they enjoy globe trotting, watching Michigan State University’s basketball and football teams, and spending time with friends and family.
