We have come through a contentious election season, and many are surprised by the results. In the beauty of our diversity, we find ourselves divided; and whether we celebrate or grieve, we must find a way to move forward together.
I offer this generalization of John Wesley’s three simple rules:
- Do no harm.
- Do good.
- Stay in love with God.
To those who grieve for our United States – for any of the reasons there are to grieve – I offer these words from the Gospel of John:
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.”
John 1:5 (NLT)
And finally to all who wish, the Chapel at Pacific Beach UMC will be open on Thursday, November 10th from 4pm to 7pm for quiet prayer and meditation.
May we all live into God’s light.
