Maruta Gardner touched countless lives in our beach communities, as a friend, an educator, an activist, and through decades of selfless community service. She was such a remarkable woman the San Diego City Council declared November 3rd as Maruta Gardner Day!
Make time to join in an event honoring Maruta Gardner by gathering together as community and participating in community service alongside the dedicated team from PB Street Guardians. Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 3, 2018 beginning at 9am and gathering at the Pacific Beach Library.
Invite your family, friends, group, or team! Gloves, bags, and cleaning equipment will be provided, or you can bring your own. Wear a hat and sunscreen!
Pacific Beach Street Guardians is a 501(c)3 non-profit that functions as a social enterprise. PBSG hires neighbors who are experiencing homelessness to:
- care for the streets, sidewalks, and beaches of our community;
- perform janitorial/custodial work for local businesses, organizations, and residents;
- provide event services (set up/take down).
As a social enterprise, PBSG offers much more than a job: pride, purpose, stability, dignity, a path to self-sufficiency, and hope!
