FAQ

Those of you who browse web sites and catalogues know that "FAQ" stands for Frequently Asked Questions. Here are some that come my way.

Q: What is your day off?
A: Sundown Friday to sundown Saturday. I am at the church office and available for appointments and consultations from Monday through Thursday. On Friday I write my sermon (otherwise known as "the message"). Then I try to observe 24 hours of "sabbath." Occasional weddings and memorials make an exception to this pattern.

Q: What is the best way to reach you?
A: Email is a great way to communicate information or to make an appointment. Phoning the church office also works. In case of night or weekend emergencies, you may call me at home.

Q: Are you available to conduct wedding ceremonies?
A: If you are active in the worship life and ministry of PB UMC, yes. Please use above email or church phone contact information so we can set up at time to talk about it.

Q: What about baptism?
A: Yes! Except in unusual circumstances, baptism takes place during worship. Let’s talk to arrange yours.

Q: Is the church accepting donations of clothing and/or household goods and/or food?
A: We do make some clothing and shoes available to our Wednesday Night guests. However, we have no storage for donated items so each week after our guests have taken their pick, we send clothes on to the Community Christian Service Agency (CCSA). Due to our lack of storage space, we encourage household good to be donated to CCSA or Goodwill. Our Wednesday Night Ministry makes use of many food donations from local grocery stores, businesses, and charitable organizations. The Welcome Door staff is responsible for meal planning and food "triage." Canned goods and other non-perishable food items are passed on to CCSA or Metro's Good Neighbor Center.

Q: How is Christina's college search going?
A: The visits are fun and interesting. She is developing a list of places she will apply. The application process will take place in the fall. Her final decision will be made a year from now.

Q: How does Lizz like Vermont?
A: She loves it. Her first two years of college have been wonderful. She comes home May 20 and will be in San Diego only a few weeks. She will be spending her junior year at a university in Brazil. She will depart mid-summer.

Thanks for your interest! I hope you'll find a way tell me about what's going on in your life...

Grace and peace,

Pastor April
