| "The Lord has done great things for us and we rejoiced."- Psalm 126:3 Dear Friends, How can it already be time to change our clocks again? It seems like we just had "Time Change Sunday" and implemented our "new" worship schedule. And while I'm wondering about the speed of time, just how is it that I'm suddenly old enough to be looking at colleges with my daughter? In some ways, it does seem like time is measured by the growth of children. Andrew K. was a sleepy newborn when we added the 9 a.m. service. Now, he's an interactive little guy charming everyone who meets him. When I first became the pastor of PB UMC, Christina was a chubby toddler and Lizz (back then she was Elizabeth) was a busy pre-schooler. By fall, they will both be high school students (one a freshman and one a senior). Jon and Kristen B., children when I arrived, now adult and living on their own, called last week to tell me to be sure to make note of their parents' anniversary and the fact that Tom and Sally were married in the SEVENTIES!! As far as I can tell, days and weeks don't really have a chance to be noticed anymore, only seasons and years, so fast does the time go. How can I already be celebrating my thirteenth Easter sunrise at Crown Point Park? Easter is a wonderful season at PB UMC. I've been here long enough to know I can look forward to the crowds, the music, the flowers, the early morning at the beach, the pancakes, the Easter bunny, and the children discovering an abundance of eggs. At the heart of it all is the resurrection of Christ, revealing the power of God, who holds the times and seasons of our lives in his/her hands. I hope you all will find a way to join in the celebration of Easter, and if possible, to invite your friends and loved ones to attend church with you. God's eternal love provides a solid foundation for our lives, which otherwise might seem like just a whirlwind of fleeting moments. "Before the hills in order stood, or earth received her frame, from everlasting, thou art God, to endless years the same." (Isaac Watts) May we all become aware of God's permanent and unchanging love this Easter. Pastor April |
